big and little: TEAL

Teal was the color of the day today. We needed a bold color to brighten up this gloomy Thursday.

"mexican dinner" homemade baby food

Tonight for dinner I made Sage his very own Mexican Dinner baby food! At 8 months he can eat beans and soft cheese, so after doing some brainstorming like a true teacher, I decided on a Mexican food themed baby food.

Mexican Dinner baby food
- 1 package dried black beans
- 1/2 avocado, cubed
- 3 slices soft pasteurized cheese
- 1/2 cup water

Soak and cook the beans according to the directions on the package. Combine the beans, avocado and cheese into a food processor. Before blending, add 1/2 cup water, and blend until desired consistency is reached.

The dinner was a hit! The dried beans made MORE than enough beans for several batches of baby food, and I could add some to my salad. The food was a hit! We finished the dinner and Sage had an applesauce for dessert.

Great dinner for a growing little!

whatever you say, boss

you're the boss, applesauce.

Sage came into school with me to "help" this morning. He loved sitting in my office chair! He felt like such a big boy. Any day now he could stop growing up and that would be juuuuuust fine with me.

cold noses and a first-time flyer

We went to the park for the first time the other day, and we both left with cold hands and cold noses. The swings were definitely a favorite. We couldn't stay long because temperatures drop too low after school, but we're excited for the warmer weather. This summer will be a summer where we spend all day at the park, flying on the swings, and wearing hats that keep the sun out of our eyes instead of keeping out the cold. I'm ready for the end of winter!

5 blogs that inspire me right now

Design Sponge blog:
Moving has made me a little bit design happy. Everywhere I go I look for design inspiration, and this my friends is the Mecca of design inspiration.

Kelli Murray at Kelli Murray Blog:
I first found Kelli Murray through her Etsy shop. She has a blog where she features her outfits, photography, and other bits and pieces from her life.

Small Fry blog:
Small Fry is where the best of the best in the kid's blog world are put into one place. They feature clothing, crafts, party ideas, books, the best blogs, all sorts of things.

Mr. Kate blog:
This is another place where I find a lot of inspiration for decorating. Mr. Kate has room inspiration posts along with DIY and upcycle posts along with tutorial videos. My favorite so far has been a tutorial on how to reupholster a thrifted chair.

Natalie at Nat the Fat Rat blog:
She has a cute little boy, she has great taste in clothes and furniture, and she puts outfits together using pieces she finds at Forever 21 and H&M. She lives in NYC and eats Chipotle every day. She's

Sorry it's been so quiet around here.. Sage and I just moved into a new apartment where we don't have internet set up (yet). That along with the terrible sickness that's been going around and my agreement to take on the after-school math program has left me spread pretty thin. Things are settling in and I'm getting into a groove, so I should be back to regular posting soon. Thanks for not hating me (too much). xo

what a stand-up little guy

Someone figured out how to pull himself up to standing this week. He decided he needed to be closer to the screen when Handy Manny was on.

We have been moving into our new apartment and have both been sick for the last week. We'll be back to blogging regularly soon when things start settling down and we both start feeling better.

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday!
